Prerequisite: A new Reader or Pre-Reader is required to pass the Prerequisite Assessment to be invited to join Emergent Readers Club.
The Emergent Readers Club (Level 2 ) is an auditory foundation pre-reading course. The course aims to enhance phonemic and phonological awareness in an Emergent Readers and boosts their confidence when speaking individually or publicly, in preparation for Level 3 - Confident Reader Club.
An Emergent Reader will learn to:
• Appreciate different genres of stories.
• Understanding sound / letter relationships.
• Identify individual sounds in words (Beginning, Middle and Ending).
• Segment words and blend sounds orally.
• Be more confident in public speaking when participating in ‘CentreStage’.
A typical lesson includes:
• Welcome Time
• CentreStage - One Minute Public Speaking
• Interactive Story Telling
• Manipulation of Beginning, Middle and Ending sounds of words
• Segmentation and Blending of sounds in words
